16. Gulden Draak Vintage ale 2008- Br. Van Steenberge

Tonight we drank Gulden Draak, but not any normal Gulden Draak: Gulden Draak Vintage Ale 2008. I don't recall liking Gulden Draak when I've had it before. I recall it being super malty and sweet and heavy. Haley has similar recollections. Her boss at Lilly Handmade Chocolates, the lovely Amanda, has apparently likened it to a bourbon and coke. This version was nothing like that. It was warm and nutty and mellow while still being very interesting. It's good beer. I'm glad it was because tonight we poured some long overdue beer out on the fire hydrant for our boys Coby and Scooter. Peace dogs. But yeah, we liked this beer a lot and decided to buy another. The coolest thing about this beer is that when poured into wide-mouthed glasses, the foam looks like it's forming bacterial colonies in a petri dish. It's cool. This beer gets 4 out of 4 dragons in Santa hats.
In other interesting news, since we are presently broke we will be moving on to cheap beers we've never had. Come one Schlitz!
